This year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr falls on Sunday, 24th May 2020. Amid the Convid-19, the festive occasion will for the first time to marked virtually. The National Chief Imam, Sheik Usman Nuhu Sharubutu will lead the mark of the event. The virtual event will take place at the premises of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation at 9 am.
In attendance to mark the event will be the President of Ghana, Nana Akuffo-Addo, Vice President Dr Bawumia and many other Muslim dignitaries. The ban on social gathering makes it impossible for Muslims across the country to hold a national gathering to celebrate this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr. On the usual, Muslims from all regions across the country gather to mark the day in an eventful manner.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the National Chief Imam has signalled all Muslims to observe the day from home together with their families, whiles he leads them in prayers and celebration, virtually. The government has declared 25th May 2020 as a national holiday because of the Eid festivity falling on a Sunday. The event will also allow the President and his vice to address many other issues concerning the country. We wish all Muslims a Happy Eid-Ul-Fitr.
