A young Ghanaian Private Legal Practitioner, Richard Adu Darko is making strides in the area of corporate commercial law practice, humanitarian services and politics. For many young Lawyers, starting one’s firm is a long term goal which is achievable after about 10 years of practice. It, therefore, comes as a great achievement for a young practitioner of about 5 years at the bar to attempt a private practice and to set up a corporate commercial law firm in the capital.
What is even more remarkable about him is the combination of the law practice with a humanitarian service and an active political adventure. Richard was born in Konongo-Odumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana. He had his basic education at the Konongo Presby Primary School, Konongo Mines School and Oxford International School where he was a school prefect and completed JSS. Richard continued with his secondary education at Kumasi Anglican Secondary School (KASS). For his tertiary education, Richard studied for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy at the University of Ghana, Legon after which he undertook his mandatory national service at the National Service Secretariat.
He commenced his journey of becoming a Lawyer by enrolling with the University of London where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB). After jumping the hurdle of a tough entrance examination and an interview, he was admitted to the Ghana Law School, Greenhill Campus where he excelled in the Professional Law Programme qualifying him to practice as Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana. Richard is also qualified to practice law in the UK. He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association and the International Bar Association. Richard started his law practice with AB & David, a Pan-African Business Law Firm with over 7 branches across Africa. At AB & David, he was part of a team that assisted in providing advice & legal representation to key clients in the areas of Corporate Commercial litigation & ADR, Project Finance and Infrastructural work, Natural Resources and Extractive Industries, Corporate Investments, Mergers and Acquisitions, Energy & Engineering, Labour & Immigration.
In 2019, Richard made a significant move of his professional life to set up a corporate commercial law firm in the city of Accra by name Richman Law Firm. Less than a year in existence, Richman Law Firm is making an impact in the Ghanaian legal space representing corporate giants in the area of oil and gas, projects and international commercial transactions.
Richard who is the founder of the firm leads most of the transactions and he is highly recommended for his attention to detail and commercial sense.
Richard is not only into corporate commercial law practice but also the founder of an NGO that provide social services to the vulnerable and deprived communities.
The best description that may suit him considering his exploits, is versatility. Last month he held a press conference to declare his intention of contesting the Parliamentary seat of the Asante Akyem Central Constituency in the Ashanti Region. Richard is enjoying great support from his constituents that gives him the assurance of winning the seat to represent his community in parliament come December 2020.
As we celebrate high achievers in their month of birth, we acknowledge the contribution of this great young achiever who was born on 6th July.
We at GHNEWZ.COM wish Lawyer Adu Darko well in all his future endeavours.
