There has always been the general belief that getting associated with a political figure comes with numerous benefits, including job opportunities. A claim by Mr Nketia seems to refute this notion. By my lay notion surrounding political figures, I least expected children of the General Secretary of the NDC’s children to be unemployed. In a one-on-one interview on the AM show, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia noted that two of his children had lost their jobs because of his political affiliation.
Narrating how it all happened, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia said his son was coerced to resign from his position by his employers and has been unemployed for the past three years. According to him, the son worked with a private firm at the harbour that operates with a government license. The management of Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority sounded a caution to the private firm that their license would be withdrawn should his son be kept on his job. On this order, the private firm wrongfully had his son dismissed to protect their license and keep their job going.
He continued by making a similar claim that his daughter has also fallen prey to the same situation. In her case, the General Secretary of the opposition party, NDC, said, her daughter refused to implicate someone to achieve mere political advances, and that got her sacked by her employers. He narrated that the daughter worked in the Internal Audit department of a government institution. She was tasked on a particular assignment to conjure something to implicate someone who is entirely innocent, but she refused, and this caused her, her job.
Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia noted that he’s brought up his children morally, and they will always subscribe to the truth and nothing else. He continued that on her return from the task assigned her, she was transferred from the head office of the government institution to a district branch in the Greater Accra region. When she got there, the manager at the district branch insisted there was no available desk for her to work.
Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah believes that his political commitment to the National Democratic Congress is what has caused her children to suffer this political victimization. General mosquito, as popularly called is happily married to Mrs.Vida Admomah Asiedu Nketia, and the couple have five children.
