Some angry residents of Madina Estate and Local Government ARS under the Madina La Nkwantanang Municipal Assembly stretch, are angry about the absence of their Member of Parliament, Hon Abu-Buakar Saddique Bonniface for his lack of commitment and engagement even during this period of Covid-19 as contrary to what was promised them before getting to the 2016 elections.
The residents are threatening to boycott the 2020 election should it come on, or go for a skirt and blouse voting; a situation where they will vote for parliamentary and presidential on separate party tickets
Residents complained that Hon Bonniface was all over the place including churches, community meetings and mosques soliciting for votes during the 2016 election but was very quick to varnish as he won the Madina La Nkwatanang seat. They lamented that this was the very action that made the former Member of Parliament Hon Alhjai Sorogho who had been in parliament since 2005 lose his seat to him.
This came to light as the residents complained that as concerned individuals and some MPs were busy sharing food, protective gears and sensitizing their constituents , their Member of parliament has been absent from Madina Estate, Newroad- Rawlings circle ,UPSA and Local Government ARS stretch but has been rumored helping the other areas in the same La Nkwantanag Municipality.
This action of the Mp Hon Abu-Buakar Saddique Bonniface was the same plight that made the constituents vote Hon Amadu Sorogho who has served for 3 terms out of his seat. It comes as a shock as residents complain that they made Hon Boniface understand that this was their major concern under the Sorogho administration but yet he has not made enough active participation or engagement with them after winning the Madina La Nkwantanang seat.
Residents say they are really disappointed in this very action and hopefully will go the polls God willing December to show their displeasure and choose a new leader who will involve them and show them concern as it should be.
Hon Abu Bakar Saddique Boniface was a former Minister of Employment and Labour relations and has served in five sectors from 2001- 2009. He was also appointed as the Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development but has now been reshuffled to the office of the vice President as Minister of State under the Nana Akuffo Addo Administration on NPP’s ticket.
